I was at a forum this morning where one woman asked why Australian men seem to have such deep-seated anger inside, and it went exactly the same way. Though she did use less gentle language.
Actually, the comment thread to the original post, at Gabby’s Playhouse, is a great example of how it goes. It’s just great to see it in a comic format, succinct and funny. Makes me feel better, somehow.
This seems a little fallacious.
By painting the male population of the blogosphere as faceless straw men for the benefit of your argument… well, that rings of sexism to me.
He tells her that the earth is flat-
He knows the facts, and that is that.
In altercations fierce and long
She tries her best to prove him wrong.
But he has learned to argue well.
He calls her arguments unsound
And often asks her not to yell.
She cannot win. He stands his ground.
Oh god, how many times have I seen that happen!
Well, if I had five cents for every time, I’d have… at least $25.

My favourite is when he says “and I’m not sexist so it’s OK”.

Well, I thought the discussion that ensued at Gaby’s blog raised that issue and many, many more. You don’t think so?
